Combined Emergency First Aid for Schools and Paediatric First Aid

Our combined Emergency First Aid for Schools and Paediatric First Aid course is specifically designed for Primary Schools who are required to have staff trained to manage first aid situations in adults, children and early years.

This comprehensive training covers all these requirements, allowing staff to fulfil the roles of a workplace First-Aider under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981, as well as a Paediatric First Aider in accordance with The Early Years Foundation Stage 2021,

Training includes a 4-6 hour fully interactive E-learning module, completed in addition to a one-day face-to-face interactive practical session. The E-Learn module features videos, interactive diagrams, and mini quizzes.

Topics covered in one day face-to-face training include:

• First Aid priorities for schools
• Managing incidents
• Resuscitation – adult, child & baby
• How and when to use a defibrillator (AED)
• Recovery position
• Convulsive seizures
• Choking
• Recognising shock
• Wounds and bleeding
• Small cuts, grazes and bruises
• Anaphylaxis and allergy awareness (additional training for schools)

 Additional E-Learn topics include:

Helping a child or baby with:

• Electric shock
• Burns & scalds
• Suspected fracture
• Head, neck or back injuries
• Suspected poisoning
• A foreign body in their eyes, ears or nose
• An eye injury
• With a bite or sting
• Effects of extreme heat or cold
• A diabetic emergency
• An asthma attack
• An allergic reaction
• Meningitis
• A febrile convulsion
• First Aid kit
• Recording accidents and incidents

Certificates regulated by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) are valid for 3 years. Delegates also receive a comprehensive First Aid manual, serving as a valuable resource for checking and refreshing their knowledge.
