Anaphylaxis, Asthma & Allergy Awareness Training Course
Anaphylaxis, Asthma & Allergy Awareness Training Course
This 90-minute interactive whole-school accredited training provides schools with up-to-date and relevant information on anaphylaxis and asthma. These conditions are taught together because they are closely related and frequently coexist.
This training provides an understanding of asthma, how to recognise asthma symptoms and how to manage an asthma attack. It then discusses allergy awareness, the recognition of allergic reactions, and the identification and treatment of a severe life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
A demonstration on how to use an asthma pump and an adrenaline auto-injector (EpiPen & Jext), prescribed to treat an anaphylaxis reaction, is included in this training. Staff will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the various devices.
Additionally, the training covers best practices for emergency procedures, the storage of emergency medication, and health care plans. It also provides suggestions on ways to eliminate the use of allergens in the school environment.
